Launch Details and Pricing

The Mijia Pocket Photo Printer 1S is now available on JD.com and other Chinese platforms at a pre-sale price of 399 yuan (approximately USD 53). Wider availability is expected from July 19th.

Enhanced Features and Customization

While the core function of printing photos from smartphones remains, the 1S model offers extensive customization through the Mi Home app. Users can select from a variety of built-in border styles, add custom avatars, and even include signature watermarks on their prints.

Photo Filters and Connectivity

The printer provides eight different filters to modify the appearance of photos before printing. Significantly, the 1S model shifts from Wi-Fi to Bluetooth connectivity, allowing multiple users to connect and print simultaneously, enhancing the social aspect of the device.

Augmented Reality Capabilities

The 1S incorporates AR technology to enrich photo memories. Its “AR video photo” feature enables users to link videos or audio clips to their photos via the Mi Home app. Scanning the printed photo within the app brings it to life with video or audio, letting users relive special moments. Videos can be up to 15 seconds long, while audio recordings can last up to 60 seconds.

Zero-Ink Printing Technology

The Mijia Pocket Photo Printer 1S uses ZINK zero-ink printing technology, which employs special ZINK photo paper embedded with color crystals. The printer heats these crystals to create images, eliminating the need for ink cartridges. Despite the printer’s affordability, the cost of ZINK paper refills is relatively high, with a 50-sheet pack priced at 99 yuan (around USD 15), translating to approximately 2 yuan (USD 0.30) per sheet.
